WWF
The Lafuma Group Foundation has chosen to support the WWF, World Wildlife Fund, the world's leading environmental protection organisation. This support is a logical continuation of the partnership between the WWF-France Foundation and the Lafuma brand, which has existed for over 10 years. The WWF Foundation has very diverse areas of activity around the world, from combating climate change to protecting endangered species and preserving forests… The Lafuma Group Foundation is specifically joining forces with the Alpine Arc Conservation programme. This programme, which results from an Alpine Convention between Slovenia, Austria, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Italy, Germany, France and Monaco, is lead by four NGOs including the WWF.

The Alpine Arc Conservation Programme includes six missions: Protection of biodiversity, maintenance and development of ecological corridors, maintenance and development of large carnivores (wolf, bear, lynx, otter), adaptation to the consequences of climate changes (biodiversity and human life styles), maintenance and restoration of alpine rivers to a good ecological condition, contribution to the development of activities for durable tourism. In particular, the major actions in the Alpine Arc Conservation Programme to which the Lafuma Group Foundation is currently contributing its support are:

o Monitoring the "Mont Blanc Thermometer", assessment and measurement tool for the environmental threats hanging over the range. This tool is helping decision makers, associations, economic players and citizens to understand the environmental issues associated with the mountain range and particularly to direct their development choices. www.pro-mont-blanc.org/textes/Synthesefinale2009.pdf

o The expansion of Panda gîtes, accommodation meeting a specific ecological specification in natural parks at the alpine scale. There are 40 Panda-approved gîtes already in France and very soon they are going to start appearing in Italy, Switzerland and other countries) www.gites-panda.fr

Mountain Riders
La protection & le respect de la montagne Mountain Riders Protection & respect for the mountains "Our planet is confronted by unprecedented issues: climate warming, loss of biodiversity, energy and social crises, etc. In this global context, mountains are not spared and must adapt their practices in order to implement sustainable development and sustainable tourism. Mountain Riders wants to support different groups involved in mountains, public and private, as well as the 11 million skiers every year, in an approach of positive change by suggesting themes for discussion and tools for real action. Supporting Mountain Riders is giving us the means to bring those involved in the mountain together around the question of sustainable development." Directed at the different audiences in contact with the mountain, Mountain Riders organises awareness operations using events (cleaning up ski resorts: national rubbish collection with 55 resorts taking part in 2009, 30 tonnes of rubbish collected and 3500 volunteer collectors) or educational campaigns (stands at events or conferences with more than 30,000 people made aware every year, eco-guides to the resorts, mountain equipment, etc.).

Mountain Riders Mountain Riders also supports professional mountain groups: the association published a charter for sustainable development of the resorts, to which to date 52 resorts are already committed. It advises event organisers from A to Z in good management of their project with minimum environmental impact and certain as "Eco-responsible events".
